BOGDAN BOBIĆ

About

Bogdan Bobić was born in 1954 in Ličko Petrovo Selo (Korenica municipality, Croatia). He completed his primary education in his birthplace, later moving to Zagreb to complete his secondary and university studies.
Deeply inclined toward the arts from his youth, Bobić actively engaged in amateur theater, poetry recitation, creative writing, painting, and music. He was a member of the Student Satirical Theater (Studentsko satirično glumište), performing at prominent regional and international festivals, including BRAMS (Belgrade Review of Amateur Small Stages), SEK (Sarajevo Experimental Theaters), and IFSK (International Festival of Student Theaters in Zagreb, Ljubljana, and L’Aquila degli Abruzzi, Italy).
Bobić’s professional background is deeply intertwined with the cultural fabric of Zagreb. He worked as a master of stage lighting at the renowned Teatar &TD, where he also served on the Programming Council. Later, he worked at the Cultural Center of the Pešćenica Municipality. A passionate performer, he frequently recited his own poetry alongside the works of Prévert, Baudelaire, and Yesenin at various cultural events, notably at the legendary "Tingl-tangl" tavern on Mesnička Street—a historic hub for Zagreb’s avant-garde poets and artists.
Though he earns his living through mathematics—a field he genuinely loves and enjoys—art remains the true core of his identity. While his daily life is rooted in the urban cityscape, he holds a profound adoration for the raw elements of nature: its mountains, seas, forests, meadows, clouds, rocks, and waters.
Tragically, Bobić's early artistic oeuvre, consisting of oil paintings and watercolors, was completely destroyed in 1991 when his house in Karlovac was burned down by nationalist Ustaše-leaning neighbors. Along with his early canvases, an unpublished collection of his poetry was permanently lost to the fire.
Bogdan Bobić currently lives and creates in Sremska Kamenica, Serbia.
